A perfect ending to an emotional series

This has been one series that has taken me from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. There have been moments where I smiled big, ugly cried and fanned myself from the explosive heat between Ashley & Tanner. Their story has not been an easy one, but I am so glad that we get this, what I would call anyway, extended epilogue to conclude their journey.

This book is not a standalone and must be read after both Inhibitions & Unrestricted. It literally picks up where Unrestricted left readers.

Even though it appears that Ashley & Tanner are finally getting their second chance at a happily ever after filled with everything that they desired, it still isn’t all smooth sailing with this pair. Because of their past, their present emotions and reactions are very dictated by everything that they have been through. But I do have to say that I loved reading them overcome all of this together in this book.

I have to say that I was so happy that Tanner ended up being everything that I knew he had in him. While he is not perfect, as evidenced throughout the series, the way that during this book he would do anything and everything for Ashley – including his own brand of “tough love” – redeemed him tenfold in my eyes. Really, you can’t help but adore a man who so clearly loves his wife that he would give her the moon if he could.

Yet I am not going to lie, Ashley did get on my nerves a bit in this book. I completely understand her fears after everything but her actions, I felt, were a bit extreme. There were times where I felt it was a bit too forced for her to act and react in a certain way. But she was able to redeem herself by the end for me.

As is par for the course with a Kimberly Bracco book, I knew I was guaranteed two things going in, that my emotions would be heavily involved in the story and there would be unbelievably hot and passionate scenes between this pair. I assure you that both were absolutely in this book and I was not disappointed. Kimberly treads the delicate line of too much steam with great success that it compliments, rather than overwhelms the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed the storyline and was happy to be getting this book after the abrupt ending to Unrestricted. I felt invested in Ashley & Tanner’s story from the beginning and though it ended perfectly. It was well written and engaging from start to finish.

If you are looking for a series that us as scorching as the sun, full of sexual tension, angst, ugly crying, big smiles, great storyline and don’t forget one sinful, dirty talking NFL quarterback, then you really need to read this series. I assure you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful Ending to the Series....

Freed is the continuation/novella story of Tanner and Ashley in the Uninhibited series. I recommend you read the first two books before beginning this one, I loved the series from the very first book Inhibitions, to the second Unrestricted and now Freed.

If you familiar with their story you know Tanner is a professional football player and Ashley is a writer. Both have had relationship issues, trust being the biggest one. Once Tanner landed eyes on Ashley he just knew he had to have her. Little by little Tanner began to break down Ashley's walls which eventually lead them to be a couple.

Their relationship hasn't been easy, from interference with his ex f@*@ buddy to Ashley's fears of losing everything. In Freed you'll see just how strong of a bond the two have, the love they have for each other, nothing and no one will stand in there way of happiness. With Ashley now pregnant she's living in fear of losing her baby, it's an everyday struggle for her. This is suppose to be a happy time in her life, being a mother is all she's ever wanted. Tanner is there every step of the way reinsuring her that everything will be fine and he will protect them at all cost.

Can Ashley overcome her fears of losing her baby and enjoy this precious miracle she and Tanner have been given?

Will Tanner and Ashley live happily ever after?

Freed is an amazing ending to the series. You'll experience every high and low right along with Tanner and Ashley.

Looking forward to reading Quinn and Alex's story it should be very interesting, especially with the ending we got.

FREED by Kimberly Bracco is the epilogue-like conclusion novella to her UNINHIBITED series. It was released in Sept 2015 and is a fitting wrap up of a great series.

Tanner and Ashley’s love story was a wild ride. From crazy ex’s, to a unplanned pregnancy, to accusation of man-trapping, to a horrific crash and losing an almost full term baby, to Tanner doing everything he needed to, to win back the love of his life.

Ashley was a strong female lead throughout the series. Tanner was great male lead but his insecurities almost cost him the girl he loved. Now in Freed they are happily married and Ashley is pregnant but alas all is not right. Her fear of again losing a child is causing struggles. While Tanner works to assure Ashley everything will be OK, Ashley is only more worried and fragile in the fear of another loss.

Through in the unwelcome return of Tanner’s bitchy ex who does wonders to ruin Ashley’s self-worth and poor Tanner is going to have to go hardcore in assuaging his lovely wife’s fear and ego.

I loved this series. The writing style, the flow. It was just a great ride. A spinoff series is coming starring secondary characters, Alex & Quinn.

I highly recommend this series and obvi, this book, to all readers of the romance genre.

This engrossing adventure offers modern phrasing while maintaining the spirit of earlier translations of Beowulf.
The original manuscript, written in Old English, has been translated by many scholars, and Gerald J. Davis offers his own excellent effort with Beowulf: The New Translation. Davis's Beowulf is prose but still honors the alliteration and kennings of the original manuscript. The little that Davis loses in terms of strict poetic faithfulness is more than made up for in simple, inspiring readability. Davis chooses to avoid footnotes, and it's a wise decision--it's easier to become engrossed in the story without them. As a result, he's shaped the text into a rousing adventure that could easily find a place on the Fantasy shelf at the local bookstore. Readers who've sampled other interpretations of Beowulf will be pleased to explore Davis's take on the tale. But truly to be envied are those for whom Beowulf: The New Translation will be an introduction to the world of heroes and honor, monsters and evil. Davis has created a version that helps us to imagine sitting around a fire, a thousand years ago, listening to a great story.

Good fun.

This is a masterful translation of a fantastic story. I last read Beowulf 15 years ago and it was a pleasure to read it again. I appreciated Davis' notes at the back of the book as they put the poem in a true historical context and demonstrated the scholarly effort that went the writing. It was a fun reading.

Dominique Lapierre was one of the pioneers of the subjective news story, a man who was never afraid to put himself, both physically and emotionally, at the heart of his reports. It is a style that has often been imitated, but as A Thousand Suns shows, it has seldom been bettered. In 1944, Lapierre won his own footnote in history by misdirecting the German tanks and accelerating the liberation of Paris by two days. You could argue that ever since, he has been making sure that other people get the credit they deserve.

A Thousand Suns is both a personal memoir and a testament to the notable characters Lapierre met along the way, from the great and the good, such as Mother Teresa, to the infamous (such as Caryl Chessman, who was executed in San Quentin in 1960), to the more anonymous. Throughout, Lapierre is always looking for the personal details that make the stories come alive. And he finds them. He discovers that General von Choltitz, the Nazi in charge of occupied Paris, had had an overcoat made in the summer of 1944 "because he thought it would be cold in a POW camp." Kozo Okamato, the only surviving Red Army Faction (RAF) member to bomb Lod airport, tells him he became a terrorist after being dumped twice by girlfriends. "At the time the RAF seemed a less demanding lover." These are the insights that animate Lapierre's work, and he is never afraid to find the humanity in even the most apparently evil of people.

However, this tendency is both a virtue and his undoing, as Lapierre sometimes allows his obvious affection for his subject to cloud all judgment. An example can be found in his accounts of Lord Mountbatten of Burma. Mountbatten was a known charmer, but his record on the partition of India does not bear scrutiny. His fudging of the boundaries, and the speed with which he acted, was undoubtedly a significant factor in the mass bloodshed that followed. Lapierre lets him off the hook with a single sentence: "By extricating his country from the Indian wasps' nest without spilling a drop of British blood, Mountbatten had saved Great Britain from one of those colonial wars of which France had made a speciality." Even for a partisan observer, this simply will not do. But a journalist who cares too much is always preferable to one who doesn't care at all, and Lapierre especially so, for the range and depth of his reportage, if nothing else. He harks back to a more innocent age when public figures were more open and trusting; few journalists would get anything like the access to equivalent figures today. Enjoy him, warts and all. Though long-winded at times, Lapierre tells incredible tales of true-life adventure, and he is a valuable eyewitness to history, whether he is joining castaways in the mass exodus of Algeria's French population following that colony's independence or making an unprecedented automobile trip across the USSR in 1956. As a reporter for Paris Match, among other periodicals, he has traveled the world and chronicled some seminal historical moments. Here he recounts meetings with everyone from Mother Teresa to Mahatma Gandhi. Particularly rivetingand grippingly writtenis a chapter on the last days of death-row inmate Caryl Chessman, who insisted on his innocence to his dying breath. Lapierre interviews Chessman six times and records firsthand each last-ditch effort to save the man, who eluded execution eight times in 12 years. Still, the book is lively and Lapierre a terrific tour guide. Besides, it's hard to dislike an author who has used millions of dollars in book royalties to help bring medical care to desperately indigent people in Calcutta, a point Lapierre carefully annotates in an appendix that outlines the work he has accomplished there and in the Ganges Delta before giving addresses for readers who want to make donations. 1. 'A Thousand Suns', a fascinating book by Dominique Lapierre, famous author of books like `Is Paris Burning' and `City of Joy' takes its title from and Indian proverb that the author chanced upon during his stay in South India. It comes from (as indicated by the author) "Behind every cloud, there are a thousand suns". A perfect message for life in present day's gloomy outlook of life.

2. It goes without saying that the book, which has such a beautiful and motivating title ought to be full of life energy and epitomize everything that is the very essence of meaningful life. This book actually is a byproduct, but a beautiful and useful one. It consists of 15 independent well researched real life stories, which the author encountered in the run up to doing a specific assignment mainly related to the prime characters or places related to these stories, initially as a news correspondent and later as a writer.

3. At the end thus, he filed his reports / wrote his books, but the enduring beauty of life enshrined in the background of these reports / books remained. A rivetting, if not accurate, read

This dude knows how to write. Throughout the book, his passion, respect and sometimes joy as he describes life's adventures and the amazing people he has met permeate his writing. He brings the events to life, makes them very real.
In particular, his horrific account of the death of Caryl Chessman brought tears to my eyes. How could it be that in a so-called civilised country such deaths continue? I was outraged and appalled to learn from Lapierre that of the 500 death executions since 1977, 'seventy-five concerned men and women whose innocence was proven after their death.' 75 innocent people killed! Mon dieu! Er no, actually -- I've since found out from various anti-death penalty web sites that in fact 75 (or now around 85) people were released (ALIVE) from death row after their innocence was proven. The distinction, I think, is rather important!
He also claims that 'California has remained faithful to its gas chambers' as a manner of execution. As far as I could find out from various government and anti-death penalty web sites, California uses primarily, if not solely, lethal injection to dispose of its unwanted citizens.
Lapierre's account of 'tarantulas as hairy as apes' in Africa would excite ecologists -- who perhaps foolishly think wild tarantulas exist only in the Americas -- as much as his (unfortunately mistaken) sighting of a rhinoceros excited his host in the Ivory Coast.
Characterising Mohatma Gandhi with temporal accuracy, if somewhat dismissively, as 'an elderly half-naked Indian...living in poverty' no doubt adds credence to his amazement at the 'miraculous alchemy' and mutual understanding that existed between Gandhi and Lord Mountbatten. But is it really so miraculous when one considers that the middle-class Gandhi had studied for and received a law degree from London University and practiced as a barrister in South Africa for 20 years? Is it so miraculous that two educated men with experience in and a good understanding of each other's cultures could then understand each other?
Obviously any account of events is going to carry some subjectivity, like his rather derogatory characterisation of Gandhi, but it's disturbing when things presented as facts, like the huge number of innocent death row victims, are blatantly incorrect. It made me wonder how many other factual errors I'd inadvertantly absorbed as truth.
Nevertheless, it is great read, lively and interesting, and his contribution to the welfare of the poorest of the poor in India goes beyond admirable. Just take the 'facts' with a grain of salt!

a must for anyone who has ever read a Lapierre book!

This wonderful series of adventures and relationships brings the reader into the fascinating world of Dominique Lapierre. He carries us back through his many and widely varied "assignments" as a journalist and author over the last 50 +years. Dominique and his wife shared many of the experiences .He makes you feel he is talking directly to you and sharing feelings that are close to his heart. Anyone who has ever read "City of Joy" and was moved by the story of Calcutta slums will really be interested in the background stories he provides which lead the writing of the book. I was only familiar with the author through his "City of Joy" book but after finishing "A Thousand Suns" I am anxious to read his other books. Longtime fans of the author will certainly relish this latest addition to their Lapierre library but anyone reading these stories will be caught up in the author's ability to evoke a sense of hope in seemingly hopeless situations.

Excellent Camaro reference

The Camaro White Book is an excellent reference when Camaro shopping. I carry it in my glovebox in case the errant Camaro presents itself. It is somewhat lacking in describing year to year changes, RPO additions and deletions. It some cases, it pretty much repeats the same info year by year. Most Camaro fans thrive on technical data; what gear ratio was available with a 6 speed vs. automatic and so on. Not as comprehensive as it could be, but still the best Camaro "bible" out there.

I purchased this book after Camaro production ended (temporarily, it turns out) in 2002, after buying the equally useful "Corvette Black Book." It's particularly valuable to buyers of these wonderful cars, and helps to sort out the real, original cars from the less desirable ones. Want to know about rare option packages like 1LE, or rare models such as police pursuit cars? It's all in there. There are many Camaro books on the market, but none of them approach the level of detail this one contains.

Brilliantly conceived

The 'Books of the Golden Age' is a brilliantly conceived reproduction of a previously unknown manuscript held by a family member. It is written in Churchward's florid handwritting and contains probably 20 color plates of Churchward's folksy, informative paintings and other illustrations of maps, symbols etc. Of the four parts of the book, I liked the main section on 'Mu' and how it's influence and the development of man's divine spirit came to bear on later civilizations. This was written before 'the Lost Continent of Mu.' I also liked the section 'My Old Preceptor' whereby Churchward discusses his relationship with his mentor, the Rishi. This is a spiritual book, speaking of man's soul. Also sections about the Origin of the Bible and Freemasonry - both from Mu and Egypt. I liked it very much and highly recommend it for anyone seeking knowledge of previous civilizations...

New book is a hoax

While it may have some pretty pictures done by James Churchward, it does not follow his original works, in tone, language or content. I also believe that handwriting analysis will show that James Churchward never even wrote the book.
This is a cheap money-making scheme to capitalize on the 'fame' of James Churchward, who was never in the British Army or attended Oxford or discovered any ancient tablets. History has shown him to be disreputable and dismissive of reality.
Please do not waste your money.

Complete review but desperately needs a editor

The author provides a through research based review of nutrition education theories and applications. Unfortunately the writing is confusing, contradictory and repetitive. This is a good book desperately in need of an editor to become a great text.

There are much better texts out there...

As previous reviewers state, this book does have some good information in it. This is my second nutrition education course (first one in undergrad, this one as a grad student) and despite some good information presented in this text, it's poorly organized, vague, and in some places contradictory. I also agree with a previous reviewer that they way they teach you to write objectives is wrong. I say this with confidence as this is by far not my first course involving objective writing and program planning. This book also fails to tell you how to actually apply the information provided. It's great to tell someone about theories, but if you don't tell them or teach them how to apply those theories, what good is the information?

There is plenty of great information in this book. It is too bad that the writer doesn't give it to the reader in a straight forward kind of way. One part of the book says one thing and the examples given as to how to write objectives is wrong. I would not recommend this book.

This book is easy to read

Short and to the point - just how advertising should be! This book is easy to read. The photo examples made it easy to differentiate the various types of ads. On my next road trip, I will be analyzing all of the billboards and will easily recall which type of ad is being displayed. I highly recommend this book to any small business that needs some help with their advertising.

Glenn Hubbard policymaker, professor, and researcher.

R.Glenn Hubbard is the Dean and Russell L. Carson Professor of Finance and Economics in the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University and Professor of Economics in Columbia’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He is also a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a director of Automatic Data Processing, Black Rock Closed-End Funds, Dex Media, Duke Realty, KKR Financial Corporation, and Ripplewood Holdings. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1983. From 2001–2003, he served as Chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and from 1991–1993, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Department. Glenn Hubbard’s fields of specialization are public economics, financial markets and institutions, corporate finance, macroeconomics, industrial organization, and public policy. He is the author of more than 90 articles in leading journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Public Economics, Quarterly Journal of Economics, RAND Journal of Economics, and Review of Economics and Statistics. His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and numerous private foundations.

Anthony Patrick O’Brien is a professor of economics at Lehigh University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1987. He has taught principles of economics for more than 15 years, in both large sections and small honors classes. He received the Lehigh University Award for Distinguished Teaching. He was formerly the director of the Diamond Center for Economic Education and was named a Dana Foundation Faculty Fellow and Lehigh Class of 1961 Professor of Economics. He has been a visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University. Anthony O’Brien’s research has dealt with such issues as the evolution of the U.S. automobile industry, the sources of U.S. economic competitiveness, the development of U.S. trade policy, the causes of the Great Depression, and the causes of black–white income differences. His research has been published in leading journals, including the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Industrial Relations, and the Journal of Economic History. His research has been supported by grants from government agencies and private foundations. In addition to teaching and writing, Anthony O’Brien also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Socio-economics.

Satisfactory Econ Reference BUT ANOTHER/CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE

I used this book for my introductory microeconomics course. I thought it should be known that there is another version of this book with ISBN 9780136022008. It has EXACTLY the same content as the regular text but is labelled as the student value edition. Instead of being a book, the pages are on loose leaf paper. This was great since it could still be carried around collectively in a binder or I could take certain chapters out to class. It is possible to find this other version for a lower price than that of the normal paperback text..

Ditch your phone camera

I'm delighted by this book! I really like that Corinna not only shared her experience on how to entice the viewer through a mouthwatering photo but she also explains in depth the technical part of photography. Her lighting chapter is excellent and will give you great insights on how to achieve certain mood using light. I'm a portrait photography but an enthusiastic food photographer. Photographing food is somewhat different from photographing people and as you read this book you'll find out why. This is a good book for both experienced photographers who want to learn how to photograph food and for anyone in the food business who wants to be able to photograph their own work. Her technical chapters are easy to read and get right to the point. I love that she gave us some great DIY tips showing us that you don't always need expensive gear to achieve mouthwatering images. I highly recommend this books for bloggers, restaurant owners, and any photographer that wants to learn the nuances of photographing food.

Outstanding book if you are interested in Food Photography! Easy to understand techniques, lot's of beautiful photos throughout. All the mystery, tips and tricks are revealed in this book! If you can only buy one book on Food Photography, let this be the one! Highly recommend!

A complete guide for anyone wanting to get started in food photography

We tend to think of food photography as a simple task to do, just point your camera at the food in front of you and bang! If you've ever had a go at taking a picture of that food in front of you, I'm sure you had experienced the difficulties to get a flattering portrayals of that food. The ever growing use of pictures for social media tend to disguise these difficulties. I get it all the time as a professional food photographer, friends and clients alike constantly saying “I had a go with my phone or my sister's camera and it doesn't look like #foodporn pictures”

With her new book on how to shoot food photography, Corinna Gissemann breaks it down to us in an extensive yet complete guide of all aspects involving food photography and gives us a clear step by step guide on how to achieve the quality we encounter in magazines, blogs and social media websites.
This progressive guide will give you a strong foundation to get your photography started but be ware! This book is not a quick easy read as the amount of information is extensive (232 pages) and very technical. This can be confusing if you're a complete novice, so don't get frustrated, just take your time and let things sit in the back of your head.
Each chapter has the cooperation of the photographed examples and diagrams— they illustrate better what the author is referring to which makes it easier since the basic concepts of photography are quite hard to understand at first.
As you keep on reading, the book takes you to more complex techniques like lighting, design, composition and styling. And then it starts challenging your creativity. I'm glad Corinna wrote a chapter on editing as this is essential for ALL food photography.

I, as a professional food photographer and tutor am happy to see quality content like this being published. There's nothing more upsetting than poor food photography and Corinna has created a powerful tool for anyone wanting to take a big step forward on their photography. I'll be keeping this book and referring to it constantly as a reminder of the basics that sometimes get forgotten.
