Night Owl Reviews 2015 TOP PICK
One of my goals that I had set as a reviewer this year was to uncover the best and the new authors that could deliver a paranormal romance that was worth praising. I have no issues in declaring that the genre is my absolute favorite choice in my reading and O'Neale delivered the sexiest read of this year (2015.)
There is certainly so much to savor about this story. It swelter in an out-of-this world romance that was untamed and wild. Still, I think what made this story stand out to me above all else was in fact the plot-the plot itself was an exceptional choice that I doubt many authors could have pulled off as far as realism goes and yet O'Neale did just that.
I will admit that I was slightly worried when I first read the synopsis of this book because I was dealing with the fact that Kaden, the hero is an alien. Yes, an alien. However this book is a very real read that does not lack imagination nor does it go too far beyond Earth that suddenly readers have a fantasy read within their hands and so for me this was what made this story one of my latest favorites.
As far as flaws goes I can only think of one fault that I had with this story and that was at the beginning the story kicked off instantly with Kaden lusting over Annabelle, the heroine. I prefer stories where both the hero and the heroine are given time to share in their attraction and I felt like Kaden overshadowed Annabelle early on.
Overall I would immensely recommend this book. I love, loved and loved this story to the point that I am going to continue to reread the pages again and again.

2.5 quite disappointed Stars.

This review is mildly spoilerish and I have to say this story didn’t really work for me. So beware...
Under his Skin is the story of Annabelle the sweet baker and Kaden the off the charts hot Adonis who’s been her best friend for over a year.
Anabelle has been salivati— in love with him since the day they’ve met. Unfortunately for her, Kaden seems to be oblivious to the fact she is a girl. Tired of waiting for him to make a move, with the help of her BFF she puts in motion a plan to make him notice her.
Kaden has been unable to stay away from Belle since the moment he laid eyes on her… but as he is an alien in a type of witness program he can’t be in a relationship with her, still he needs his daily fix of her presence even if he can only be with her as just a friend.
But soon things start to get out of control, hearts start to beat (literally), weird things start to happen and secrets are bound to get exposed.
This story had a lot of potential. Hot aliens, destined mates, a mystery stalker… Unfortunately, I felt this potential trickle to nothing as the story went on.
I don’t want to give too much away, but Kaden ended up being one of those wishy-washy H’s who think, although they have found their soul mate, she would be better off without him. She’d have a better life, someone who deserves her… I mean really? Didn’t you just say she was meant for you? How come someone else would be better?
So this, along with his resistance to move things along… bedroom wise (it takes them over the 80% mark to get it on) and then the rushed feeling of the ending and the way it was resolved… well, my interest and enjoyment fizzled out until there was practically nothing left.
It’s not that I didn’t like the story, it’s more that it could have been a freaking awesome book and it wasn’t.

Under His Skin by Stacey O’Neale was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, Entangled Publishing and Stacey O’Neale.
Kaden Chance is not of this world. He is an alien. Since he and his two brothers landed on earth two years ago, they were able to obtain human DNA to have a human body. The first year of their lives they spent in an FBI facility learning how to blend in to human society. After that they were given identities and set up in the quiet community of Germantown, Maryland.
Annabelle Sparks also lives in Germantown. After winning on the television reality show, Cupcake Wars, she now runs a very successful bakery she calls Yummy Bakery. She became friends with Kaden a year ago and was attracted to him from the start. She hinted in every way possible but it seemed that Kaden wanted to keep her in the friend zone. So she finally decided to give up and date.
One of the main rules Kaden and his brothers were given was that they could not form romantic relationships. Kaden thought of nothing else than his longing to kiss Annabelle but he knew he couldn’t. But then he found out she intended to go on a date with another man. The hearts of his species don’t actually beat unless they are beginning to bond with their intended mate. And at that moment when Kaden stood there gazing at Annabelle, his heart began to beat for the very first time.
This was a very cute book that I totally enjoyed. It was sweet, sexy, and even suspenseful. Annabelle has been getting prank phone calls, then a brick thrown through her window. Is someone after her or do they want Kayden?
Kaden is so smitten with Annabelle it is just so adorable. But he constantly struggles with himself. Should he go for it, or does he take the chance? Could he ever tell her what he really is? Doesn’t she deserve a normal life with a normal human? Then when danger comes to their doorstep, he is convinced that there is no way he could ever fit into her life.
This is my first Stacey O’Neale book but I guarantee that it won’t be my last. It was fast paced and fun. I am fairly certain this is going to be a series. I will be completely on board if it is. Hopefully there will be future books about Kaden’s brothers. And possibly Annabelle’s best friend will be back. She was so much fun.

UNDER HIS SKIN by Stacey O'Neale was freakin' amazing. I started it one morning and absolutely could not stop reading it until I'd read all the way through its most perfect epilogue! The story is set in Germantown, a small suburb of Washington, D.C., and is told in the alternating POVs of the hero and heroine. I would describe this as a delectable contemporary romantic cozy mystery with a fresh sci-fi element. :-) It's teeming with laugh-out-loud humor.
The "good guy" aliens actually brought back memories for me of some favorite TV series I grew up with - Mork and Mindy and My Favorite Martian - but with a predominant romantic aspect. Oooh la la! I absolutely loved it! UNDER HIS SKIN is the story of delightfully innocent bakery owner Annabelle Sparks and an ultra cool extraterrestrial, Kaden.
I loved both the hero and the heroine! Annabelle's business is booming. Annabelle still thinks of herself as a small-town girl but, in reality, she has been a celebrity since she won the TV competition, Cutthroat Cupcake. She's as sweet as her cupcake creations and quite the opposite of her confidante, Hilary, who manages to steal a few scenes. Annabelle has been lusting after her best friend, Kaden for years, but Kaden gives her no inkling that he shares her infatuation nor that he wants to be anything more than friends. Add in some not-nice-at-all aliens, intrigue and Kaden's oh-so-sexy brothers, and you've got a delightful tale that rocked my boat!
Please tell me that there will be a sequel as I am dying to read Hilary's and Cam's story! I'll leave you with a short snippet concerning Cam:
"Is mind melting your power?"
"No, mostly I give orgasms." Cam wiggled his eyebrows at her. "Lots and lots of mind-blowing orgasms."
Now you know why there has to be a sequel and why I can't wait! The few highlights I've mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg; There's many more where these came from! While we're all waiting on a sequel that just HAS to be in the works, rush to whatever bookstore you use and buy UNDER HIS SKIN now!
